Lots of shows coming up!

Welcome back to my newsletter! Normally I'd just email folks around Chicago about my shows in the area but I'm proud enough that I wanted to share this with everyone. If you enjoy comedy, dancing and shoe gaze rock... well boy do you have eclectic taste and you're not gonna believe this!

With Jet Packs at The Hideout – Feb 10

Next Tuesday the shoe gaze rock band I play keyboards in With Jet Packs is playing our biggest show yet at The Hideout. Supported by Helicopter Leaves and Flake Michigan. You can check out video of our previous shows here, our set just keeps getting better and this one will feature a new original song and a new cover! Show starts at 8:30pm.

Performing at Second City through February

Since late last year I have been the main understudy music director for The Second City's e.t.c. stage. It’s hard to overstate how proud I am to be performing at this comedy institution I once admired from across the globe.

Typically e.t.c. is home to one of Second City's trademark sketch revues, featuring a mix of written material and improvised scenes. The Chicago Tribune recently published a great article explaining some of its history. For the next few months it's all improv baby! Games in the first half, then a single long-form improvised piece in the second.

Sadly our brilliant music director John Love has injured his arm, so it looks like I'll be covering most of the shows for at least the rest of this month. Coming from Sydney where it can be hard to keep an improv show going consistently outside of festival time, it's blowing my mind that I get to perform SIX SHOWS PER WEEK with some of my favorite humans improvising at the top of their game.

The show runs Thursday to Sunday. Respond to this email if you're interested in coming so I can confirm I'm playing the date you have in mind and connect you with at least a discounted ticket.

DJ set at Chop Shop – March 7

This is quite special. I've been djaying at parties and weddings for many years now but never really pursued doing it in a professional setting. Saturday March 7 will be my first time performing as 'DJ Brycicle' in an actual music venue.

It's a daytime set, performing for the brunch crowd. Whether you want to dance or just have a great meal Chop Shop has it all. I'm putting together a set of house tracks I enjoy and my own edits of pop songs. It will mean a lot to me if you can make it.

Alright, cool, let's see where this goes!
